I produced this music video for my friend Chris from the band Yeasayer, and I wanted to explore new methods to get things done with 3D Volumetric Video. Utilizing Unity's Game Engine to construct the environments, my goal was to control the music video using a game controller, while recording the output stream. This approach involved numerous takes filled with delightful surprises and allowed me to concentrate on editing ideas without dealing with the usual rendering and compositing. The results were sometimes more random than I could have intended, something I would not have achieved in a regular timeline based approach.
I was also invited to do visuals for a few live shows and had tons of fun learning from the experience of taking my lab out on the road with these guys. Below is a link to the Recorded Output from the Rough Trade show in Brooklyn.
